July 25, 2012 (Quebec City, QC) – The fifth edition of the exciting Tour de Québec stage race has a new title sponsor, Desjardins, and is back to full strength with five stage beginning today and runs from July 25-29th.
The action-packed schedule includes one sprint prologue, two road races, one time trial along the St-Laurent River, and two criteriums – one in St-Augustin and the final in Quebec City around the parliament buildings.
Tour de Quebec Desjardins
– July 25th: sprints – Rue St-Jean, Québec
– July 26th: road race – Île d’Orléans
– July 27th: road race – St-Joachim
– July 28th am: time trial – Promenade Champlain
– July 28th pm: criterium – St-Augustin
– July 29th: criterium – Quebec City parliament
This fifth edition features a mix of Quebec and US teams. BikeReg / Cannondale sports director Stephen Weller already confirmed that 2009 champion Josh Dillon will be back to defend his title.
“In general, there is a great interest from all teams with the new program presented over five days and everyone is excited and looking forward to competing in our beautiful region,” commented promoter Jean-Michel Lachance
In addition to the men’s race, there is also a women’s race presented over two days, as well as Masters categories during the weekend. In total, over 400 cyclists are expected.
