March 14, 2011 (Ottawa, ON) – KidSport Ottawa is hosting its second Annual Ride for KidSport and Bicycle Safety Day on April 30. KidSport™ Ottawa helps Ottawa children & youth from low-income families participate in organized sport by providing grants for sport registration fees & equipment. Today’s children & youth are the least healthy & least active in Canadian history! There is a direct link between childhood inactivity & barriers to organized sport.
Where: Kanata Leisure Centre (exit Castlefrank from the 417 – turn left on Aird)
What: 12 hours of indoor cycling from 7am to 7pm. Participants (16+) reserve a bike for a decided amount of time and raise pledges for KidSport™ Ottawa – registration form here and pledge form here.
This is a great opportunity for teams and companies to create a little spirit and raise money for a good cause!
Meanwhile, outside from 10am to 1pm there will be a bicycle safety component for participants of all ages coupled with a raffle and bar-b-q.
The Bicycle Safety Day hosts multiple community organizations that will be promoting helmet and road safety and providing bicycle maintenance. Come on down April 23rd – it will be fun for all ages!
