February 3, 2010 (Aigle, Switzerland) – The registration procedure for the UCI Women’s Teams for the 2010 season has been completed. The International Cycling Union (UCI) has registered 27 teams from 14 countries and 4 continents. The complete list of these teams and their members is available on the UCI website here.
Three Canadian riders are registered in women’s UCI teams this year: Audrey Lemieux (Can) is part of the French ESGL 93-GSD Gestion team, while Julie Beveridge (Can) and Karol-Ann Canuel (Can) are team mates on the French Vienne Futuroscope squad.
All the National Federations successfully undertook the new registration procedure which was already used last year by the European Federations and which includes a requirement that each team provide a compulsory bank guarantee. The higher quality of the registration documents sent to the UCI reflects the increased professionalism of the UCI Women’s Teams audit by their National Federations and, therefore, the increased professionalism of the teams themselves.
The result of the registrations for the 2010 season is very positive: new nations such as Sweden and Norway will line up teams for events on the UCI Elite Women’s International Calendar for the first time. View the calendar here.
