24 Hours of Adrenalin Canmore Report, Results, Photos

by Chris Redden

July 25, 2012 (Canmore, AB) – The 17th annual 24 Hours of Adrenalin took place on July 21 – 22 at the Canmore Nordic Centre. The event is always a big draw with 1,650 athletes competing as solo riders or on teams for the 24 hours of racing. The event is hugely popular and draws in riders from all over the west coast and Alberta and always sells out almost a year in advance.

Patrick Hummeny was the big winner in the Men’s Solo category, completing 18 laps in the designated 24 hours. Nadine Mueller finished nine laps to take the Women’s Solo title. Full results HERE.

The Canmore Nordic Centre is a great venue for the race as there is ample camping on the site and the single track trails crisscross the property.

This year, the racers were greeted by a strong storm on the Friday evening before the race. Winds and rain was so powerful that most tents get knocked down and had to be set up again. Luckily the weather improved immensely and it was sunny and nice for the remainder of the weekend.

This event was a precursor to the World 24 Hour MTB Championships to be held at the same venue on September 14. All of the top endurance riders will be attending and look for Tinker Juarez to challenge for the title.
