May 16, 2014 (Oro-Medonte, ON) – Hardwood Ski and Bike welcomes mountain bike riders from all over Ontario on Friday May 23 for the 20th Annual Hardwood High School and Elementary Mountain Bike Challenge.

“We look forward to providing a fun and challenging day for all ages and levels of riders,” says Glenn Meeuwisse, President of Pulse Racing Inc.; the official race organizers for the event.

Each cyclist may compete as an individual in the morning races, and again as a high school relay team in the afternoon.  All schools and riders are encouraged to bring other riding friends and athletes to fulfill “team” points for their school.  Elementary School riders are also welcome to compete in a dedicated category.

Schools with four or more riders in an age category will qualify as a “team”.  While any number of riders may enter for a school, the first four riders who finish will be counted for the school team standing.

The courses for the event are designed to be fun, safe and still a good test of fitness and skill for all ages and abilities of riders.  Riders will be competing on a six kilometre course with multiple laps depending on the category.  The courses are marked and open for pre-rides as of May 17, 2014. Pre-rides are only permitted during Hardwood Ski and Bike’s regular hours of operation and trail fees apply.

Races begin at 10:30am and commence at 2pm, at which time individual and team awards will be presented.  Online entry closes Wednesday May 21 at midnight.  Any day-of entry will be subject to an additional late fee.
