February 04, 2018 (Valkenburg, Netherlands) – Canadian champ Michael van den Ham from Edmonton, Alberta, was the top Canuck on Day 2 of the 2018 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships in Valkenburg finishing 34th in the Elite men’s race, his best result at Worlds (last year 38th). Teammate Mark McConnell of Calgary also moved up from 55th last year to 51st on the day.
Belgium racked up more titles as Eli Iserbyt claimed the U23 Men’s crown while Wout Van Aert took home a historic triple winning the elite men’s race with his teammate Michael Vanthourenhout in second followed by early leader and favourite Mathieu van der Poel (Netherlands) in third. Belgium was dominant this year as Sanne Cant won the Elite women’s race as well.
