2017 UCI Road Worlds Elite Women’s Road Race Results, PHOTOS – Kirchmann 12th

September 23, 2017 (Bergen, Norway) – Leah Kirchmann from Winnipeg, MB, led the Canadian charge today finishing 12th in a hard-fought 152.8km Elite Women’s road race, 8 x 19.1km laps, won by Chantal Blaak (Netherlands) on the final lap of the competition.
Katrin Garfoot (Australia) claimed the silver and Amalie Dideriksen (Denmark), the defending champ, took home the bronze medal in the bunch sprint to the line.
All Canadians finished the grueling course that featured the brutal Salmon Hill climb and a much longer course than usual for the Elite women.
Karol-Ann Canuel finished 32nd, Alison Jackson was 57th, Lex Albrecht finished 67th, Sara Bergen was 68th and Kirsti Lay placed 73rd despite being caught up in a crash and going down on the 5th lap.
