2017 MTB Worlds Junior Men’s XCO Results – Holden Jones Wins BRONZE for Canada

September 07, 2017 (Cairns, Australia) – Holden Jones raced to a gutsy bronze medal for Canada in a hot battle for the silver in the 23.1km Junior Men’s XCO race this morning in Cairns, Australia at the 2017 MTB World Championships.

At his debut Worlds, Jones was neck and neck with Joel Roth (Switzerland) for much of the latter part of the race until the final 1/2 lap when Roth was able to gain a gap.

Cameron Wright (Australia) took the win after jumping to comfortable lead in the race that consisted of a Start loop + 5 laps ands crossed the finish line with a 35s margin over Roth. Tyler Clark was 27th, Gunnar Holmgren was 29th and Brody Sanderson did not finish following a crash. This is Canada’s first medal at the 2017 MTB Worlds.
