2011 Track Cycling Worlds – Day 3 Full Results UPDATED

March 25, 2011 (Apeldoorn, the Netherlands) – Here are some results from Day 3 at the 2011 Track Cycling World Championships. Canada’s Monique Sullivan qualified in 15th in the Women’s Sprint to advance to the 1/16 finals while 2011 WCup Omnium champ, Zach Bell was leading the men’s Omnium after two events with 13 points followed by Lasse Norman Hansen (Denmark) in second with 14 and Gijs Van Hoecke (Belgium) in 3rd with 15 points.

Bell won the Flying Lap and placed 12th in the hotly contested Points race won by Juan Esteban Arango Carvajal (Colombia). In the Elimination Race Bell placed 16th and now sits 8th overall in the standings after 3 events.

Sarah Hammer (United States) was the top qualifier in the Women’s Individual Pursuit – no Canadian women are competing in the pursuit. Hammer took the gold over Alison Shanks (New Zealand) who won silver while Vilija Sereikaite (Lithuania) takes home the bronze defeating Jaime Nielsen (New Zealand).

Avila Edwin Alcibiades (Colombia) won the 40km Points race over defending champ Cameron Meyer (Australia) while Morgan Kneisky (France) took the final podium spot.

Gregory Bauge (France) won two straight over Jason Kenny (Great Britain) for gold in the men’s Sprint while Chris Hoy (Great Britain) took the bronze winning two consecutive rounds over Mickaël Bourgain (France).
