by pedalmag.com

July 9, 2010 (Toronto, ON) – The Canadian Road Nationals slated for Burlington, Ontario, in 2011 and 2012 have taken a major step forward with the City of Burlington agreeing to support municipal services for the event to the tune of $30,000 while the Burlington Hotel Association will inject $20,000 bringing the total commitment to $50,000.

Midweek Cycling Club is the organizer and Craig Fagan, who is the race director, is pleased with the announcement. “This is great news. We thank the residents of Burlington for their support,” said Fagan in a brief telephone interview. “This is an important step forward in building a solid Road National Championships event in both 2011 and 2012 leading up the London Games. The Burlington, Ontario courses are fantastic and feature an urban environment to showcase the sport. They are true tests of national champions.” Fagan could not confirm if the support was for one year or two but either way it’s good news for cycling in Ontario.
