March 14, 2010 – The 2010 and Beyond Panel has released its report which recommends a new independent, not-for-profit organization to manage high-performance sport based on the Own the Podium model and include non-Olympic sports as the foundation for the future in Canada.

The 71-page report finalized in December 2009, prior to Canada’s 14 golds at Vancouver 2010, suggests bringing together Own the Podium, key elements of the Vancouver Organizing Committee (VANOC), and Sport Canada’s high performance programs and funding including athlete carding. Both the Canadian Cycling Association’s CEO Greg Mathieu and the FQSC’s Louis Barbeau (Paracycling) participated in roundtable discussions held in Ottawa, Montreal and Calgary with recommendations from each session outlined in the full report HERE.
