March 29, 2009 (Pruszkow, Poland) – Canada’s Zach Bell has won the men’s Omnium silver on the final day of competition at the 2009 Track Worlds. Bell placed fourth in the Points Race and fourth again in the final Omnium event the 1000 TT to capture second place overall and the silver medal. Australia’s Leigh Howard won the gold with Tim Veldt (Netherlands) taking home the bronze.
In the women’s Points race, 100-laps (25km) with 10 sprints, Canada’s Tara Whitten finished 11th with Italy’s Giorgia Bronzini taking the gold, Yumari Gonzalez Valdivieso (Cuba) the silver and Great Britain’s Elizabeth Armistead the bronze.
Grégory Bauge (France) prevailed to take the men’s Sprint title over Malaysia’s Azizulhasni Awang winning the silver with Kévin Sireau (France) taking the bronze over Shane Perkins (Australia).
In the women’s Keirin Shuang Guo (People’s Republic of China) won the gold with France’s Clara Sanchez taking home the silver and Willy Kanis (Netherlands) the bronze.
