September 11, 2009 (Bogogno, Italy) – New comer to the sport of paracycling Marie-Claude Molnar from Greenfield Park (QC) captured a bronze medal in the women’s LC2/CP4 class finishing 29:01 sec behind the winner Susan Powell of Australia and 5 sec behind silver medal winner Jennifer Schuble from the USA. “I am so happy I did not get caught and finished on the podium!,” said Marie-Claude Molnar after her event.
The third medal of the championship went to the duo of Daniel Chalifour from Mt-Laurier (QC) and Alexandre Cloutier from St-Antoin de Tilly (QC) in the men’s tandem time trial who claimed the bronze medal. The pair finished 57; 33 seconds down from the wining Spanish tandem and about 40 sec down on the silver medal ride, also from Spain.
Chalifour mentioned he was very happy about their solid performance. Other notable Canadian performances came from tandem Cote and Boily with a 23rd place who are waiting for the road race to shine. Jean Quevillon and Brayden Mcdougall in the CP3 class finished respectfully 7th and 9th in the ITT while the women tandem of Ouellet and Hupin-Debeurme finished their ITT in 12th position; but watch out for them in the road race.
Tomorrow will see Canada’s Hand Cyclists and LC riders compete in the road races.
