2008 We Need More Cowbell Cross Race

August 21, 2008 (St.Catharines, Ontario) – The Second annual We Need More Cowbell cyclocross race will take place on Saturday September 13th at Burgoyne Woods Park in St.Catharines, Ontario. The course is mainly a pancake flat fast grass course with technical turns. Pretty much all of course will be taped off except for ‘no brainer’ areas where course will be obvious. The loop will be 2.8-3km long and will have one, YES ONE, set of barriers and one slight run up, unless you are super good at riding up hill then it is no run ups for you.

The main change from last year will be a reduction of power sections and more technical turns on the far grassy section of the course. This was done to please the anti-Jens Voigt fan club who are clearly against power in cycling.

On site there will be on or two power washers, bike stands and a possibly a mechanic to help out with ‘Oh my God my bike does not work’ issues. There will be coffee, muffins, and fruit on site at no cost. The park has a play area for Children and a dog park also. The play area and washrooms are not on the course but are within walking distance.

Hope to see everyone there on the 13th. And if you have a fever there is only one prescription COWBELL (and maybe Tylenol 3) And remember nationals is 4 weeks from this date, yeah I know a bit early. For start times and directions refer to the website.

Of note due to organizational restructuring Casey Chown has been let go of his prize distribution duties, but may be on hand to ring cowbells and touch everybody’s bikes. He has no comment on the development ( he can only say like 50 words anyway).
