2008 BMX National Calendar Announced

January 25, 2008 (Ottawa, ON) — The Canadian cycling association (CCA) is pleased to announce the 2008 BMX National Calendar. Since the number of events sanctioned by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is limited, only 2 events will appear on the 2008 calendar.

The Canadian Championship will be hosted by Abbotsford, British-Columbia on May 17-18. This will be the last occasion for riders to gather precious UCI points prior to the World Championship in Taiyuan, China from May 30 to June 1. It’s after these championships that Canada will know how many spots they get for the Olympic Games. The 2009 season will begin after the end of the World Championship on June 2nd 2008.

Kingston will be the host of the first round of the 2009 North America Tour (UCI 3) on July 5, 2008. Future Olympians will finalize their preparation for the biggest meeting of the year. The Olympic BMX race will go on August 20-21.
