September 19, 2006 – The UCI Management Committe met today Salzburg (AUT) where the UCI 2006 Road World Championships will start tomorrow.
While opening the meeting, the UCI President Pat McQuaid made sure to underline the success of the 2006 IPC World Championships which concluded yesterday in Aigle’s World Cycling Center in Switzerland.
In his introduction, President McQuaid also informed the members of the Management Committee of the preparation of an audit on cycling which will be done in the next few months.
The Management Committee also expressed its full support to the UCI ProTour, and approved the replacement of Manolo Saiz by Roger Legeay in the UCI ProTour Council.
During the meeting, the following World Championships were also awarded:
– BMX 2009: Adelaide (AUS)
– Junior 2009: Moscow (RUS)
– MTB Marathon 2009: Graz (AUT)
The Management Committee also approved the introduction of three new events in the programme of the Track World Championships (Men Omnium and Women Team Sprint from 2006-2007, Women Team Pursuit from 2007-2008; both women team events will be programmed at the Track World Cup legs as well), and the calendars of the Road 2007 (Continental Circuits Women and Junior), BMX 2007, MTB 2007, notable that of the MTB UCI World Cup 2007:
