July 19, 2007 (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) — Cam MacKinnon has won a silver in the men’s Keirin on the track today adding to Canada’s medal hall at the 2007 Pan American Games. MacKinnon’s hometown is Calgary, Alta., and he lives and trains in Vancouver, B.C.
“This was my first international Games medal. It’s really exciting – it just shows that everything is falling into place for Beijing,” said MacKinnon after winning the silver.
“The keirin is definitely my favourite event. It suits my mentality because it’s aggressive and anything can happen. I like the chance factor that’s involved. You do what you have to do to get ahead and ask for forgiveness later,” he added.
