July 21, 2007 (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) — Wendy Cruz from the Dominican Republic has won the gold today at the men’s 160km road race at Flamingo Park in Rio over Emile Abraham (Trinidad) in second and Luciano Pagliarine (Brazil) in third.

Canada’s Keven Lacombe finished in 5th, Charles Dionne was 7th, Dominique Rollin was 22nd and Ryan McKenzie placed 44th.

Rollin had bridged to a small break of three riders including Pablo Magallanes (Mex), Carlos Escobas (Col) and Jorge Gallegos (Ecu). The four were away for about 2/3 of the race and had as much as 1:15 on the pack. Escobas was shed but the leaders were caught with about 30km to go and the race ended in a bunch sprint. There were 54 starters today.
