November 23, 2007 (Georgesville, QC) – The non-profit society that organizes the Tour de Beauce announced at its annual general meeting on November 15 that it had realized a 4% surplus on its 2007 budget after running up deficits in 2005 and 2006. The Grand Prix cycliste de Beauce Inc. also hosted the 2007 Canadian road championships and the 2007 Quebec elite championships.
“This gives us some room to manoeuvre after a few difficult years,” commented Francis Rancourt, GP de Beauce Inc. coordinator, “As it’s always hard to predict revenues with such events.” Rancourt attributed the current surplus of $38,480 on last year’s budget of $870,256 to good management and to amortizing fixed costs over more than one cycling event.
The Tour de Beauce is the only international cycling stage race in Canada. The 2008 edition will take place from June 10 -15 in the Beauce region, south of Quebec City in part of the Appalachian Mountains.
