December 7, 2005 – Here is the SISU Road Ontario Cup Series Schedule:
-Bikecrazie.com Ontario Cup Classic April 15th. Once again Mosport International Speedway, just north of Bowmanville, will launch the O-Cup Series. With its 4km closed circuit loop, this Ontario Cup is great for spring beginners and seasoned pros. With its draw of Quebec riders the bikecrazie.com Ontario Cup Classic always has strong fields. Robert Naish and his exceptional organizing crew are back again.
-Niagara Classic May 21. The St. Catharines Cycling Club is back again, with the Niagara Classic marking the first of its two O-Cups for ’06. Currently the Niagara Classic will only be its traditional Effingham road race in Pelham however they in discussions with local authorities to add a Holiday Monday criterium.
-KW Classic June 11. The 4.6 km Hidden Valley Circuit with its gently rolling hills is back for another O-Cup Series. As always expect June 11th to be a hot and humid day in Kitchener. 2006 will mark extremeroad.com’s fourth year organizing the event.
-Provincial Road Race Championships June 25. Two weeks after the KW Classic, extremeroad.com is back in the saddle, this time hosting our Provincial Road Race Championships. The event is tentatively booked to be held at the picturesque Conestogo Lake, north of Waterloo. This 31.6 km course will be the same as last year’s Provincial Road Race Championships with a few enhancements.
-Magna Grand Prix August 6. The Cyclissimo Bike Club enters the world of Ontario Cup organizing with the Magna Grand Prix. The 8km Aurora course comprises of Wellington, Bayview, Vandorf and Leslie. We are looking forward to an Ontario Cup race returning to the GTA area.
-Jewel in the Wilderness August 12-13. This Elliot Lake weekend returns for its third season. Word of mouth by past participants is quickly making the Jewel a “can’t miss” on the O-Cup circuit. Last year’s addition of the Provincial Hill Climb Championships and a banquet dinner proved Elliot Lake cares about cyclists.
-Provincial Criterium Championships September 2. This year’s Provincial Criterium will be the Tour of Historical Amherstburg. Organised by the Caboto Velo Club, the beauty of downtown Amherstburg will serve as a great backdrop to the 1.2 km downtown course.
-Provincial Time Trial Championships To Be Determined The final O-Cup and road event of the year will feature the Provincial Time Trial in the Niagara Region on a Saturday. The St. Catharines Cycling Club will use last year’s successful Prov TT course in Wellandport. The course features Riverside Drive from Wellandport to Welland. No doubt St. Catharines Cycling Club will organise another great event. Series awards will be presented at the event.
