November 27, 2004 – After the careful consideration and evaluation, the 2005 Road Ontario Cup Series has been determined. The OCA thanks all organizers for taking the time to submit their exceptional bids. Unfortunately not all events can be Ontario Cups.

The Ontario Cycling Association is pleased to announce its 2005 Road Ontario Cup Series

– Bikecrazie.com Ontario Cup Classic
April 10th. Once again Mosport International Speedway, just north of Bowmanville, will launch the O-Cup Series. With its 4 km closed circuit loop and potential for chip timing, the bikecrazie.com Ontario Cup Classic is a must. Robert Naish and his exceptional organizing crew are back again.

– Niagara Classic
May 22nd. The St. Catharines Cycling Club is at it again, with the Niagara Classic marking the first of its two O-Cups for ’05. The Niagara Classic has been scaled back to simply a 16km circuit road race. However the proposed course will be similar to last year’s Provincial Road Race in Pelham except for the addition of Effingham Hill.

– KW Classic
June 12th. The 4.6 km Hidden Valley Circuit with its gently rolling hills is back for another O-Cup Series. As always expect June 12th to be a hot and humid day in Kitchener. 2005 will mark extremeroad.com’s third year organizing the event.

– Provincial Road Race Championships
June 26th. Two weeks after the KW Classic, extremeroad.com is back in the saddle, this time hosting our Provincial Road Race Championships. The event will be held at the picturesque Conestogo Lake, north of Waterloo. This new 31.6 km course will be a true testing ground for a Provincial Champion.

– Provincial Time Trial Championships
July 23rd. Day One of “Provincial Weekend” will feature the Provincial Time Trial in the Niagara Region. The St. Catharines Cycling Club have narrowed down their long search to either Riverside Drive in Welland or Fly Road near Grimsby. Whichever location they choose, it will no doubt be a great time trial course.

– Provincial Criterium Championships
July 24th. Day Two of “Provincial Weekend” will feature the Provincial Criterium. After two successful organizing campaigns of the Festival de Velo, the Waterloo Cycling Club is ready for the next level of organizing. The 1.3 km course will take place in downtown Kitchener surrounding City Hall, using King, Ontario, Duke and Francis Streets. The “festival” portion of the event will take place in the City Hall Square.

– Warkworth Challenge
August 1st. David Beer and the Cobourg Cycling Club return for another year on the O-Cup scene. This O-Cup’s 25 km loop of country roads and rolling hills makes Warkworth always a challenge. With the addition of pre-registration and a different timing system, Warkworth will once again be a “can’t miss” Ontario Cup.

– Jewel in the Wilderness
August 13th-14th. This Elliot Lake Stage Race returns for its second season. Generally heralded by many of last year’s participants, this year’s event will be even better. The additional of the Provincial Hill Climb Championships sandwiched between the Saturday morning Criterium and the Sunday Road Race will secure this. The 27.3 km road race will be a fitting end to a fantastic Road Ontario Cup Series.
