2005 Men\’s Worlds Team Reduced

October 6, 2004 – Next year’s road worlds will see some changes, the UCI announced this weekend. The maximum size of the men’s teams will be reduced to 9, from 12. The idea is to allow more countries into the race, and therefore opening up the peloton; similar to the “mondialization” ideas of the UCI in the nineties. The reigning champion’s country will still be allowed one extra rider, therefore Spain is allowed Freire plus nine others.
