2005 BC Superweek Dates Announced

November 13, 2004 – Next year’s edition of BC SUPERWEEK, one of North America’s most exciting cycling series, featuring seven races in 10 days, is set for July 15 – July 24, 2005.

In 2004, more than 44,000 spectators turned out to watch cycling greats such as Ivan Dominguez, Gord Fraser, Henk Vogels, Marty Nothstein, Jonas Carney, Tyler Farrar, Sarah Uhl, Helen Kelly and Alison Sydor race for $50,000 in prize money.

Based in and around Vancouver, Canada, just north of Seattle, Washington, BC SUPERWEEK includes the Tour de Delta, July 15-17 (hill climb, criterium, road race), the Tour de Gastown criterium, July 20th, and the Tour de White Rock, July 22-24 (hill climb, criterium, road race).

“The Tour de Delta is pleased to bring exciting bike racing action to the communties of Delta, Ladner and Tsawassen,” said Delta organizer John McMurchy. “Being the week after the Cascade Classic in Oregon makes BC SUPERWEEK a logical next stop for North American teams already competing on the west coast.”

“Gastown’s 30,000 spectators were treated to two thrilling races last year,” said Gastown race chair Scott Hawthorn. “BC SUPERWEEK’S media coverage was tremendous and we’re looking forward to 2005 to see who’ll join Lance Armstrong and Alex Stieda on our list of past champions.”

“The road race along White Rock’s waterfront is one of the toughest in North America,” said Race Director Rita Clarkson. “Thankfully, the riders can count on thousands of enthusiastic cycling fans cheering them along every BC SUPERWEEK course.”
