July 16, 2004 – The Tour de Delta hillclimb does not seem particularly hard on paper – only rising about 50 meters in 700 metres – but midway up the hill kicks up to provide even the most experienced of riders some grief.
The time trial was run in an exciting two-up fashion and local legend Brain Walton provided the colour commentary while some of the best domestic riders in North America (including several Olympians, World Champions and National Champions such as Gord Fraser, Marty Nothstein, Ivan Dominguez, Will Friscorn and Tyler Farrar) all provided the excitement.
But as history often repeats itself Zach Bell, a local Delta rider, beat everyone again to take his second straight Tour de Delta Hillclimb win.
On the women’s side veteran Sara Neil defeated time to show everyone how it was done.
