September 29, 2003 – Only a week to go and the World will be coming to Hamilton! After years of planning and anticipation the 2003 Road World Championships are almost here. And Canada will be well represented in all disciplines, with a number of medal and top-ten hopes, and perhaps even a rainbow jersey.

Elite Men Roland Green and Eric Wohlberg will be riding the Elite men's 41.6k TT. Both riders will use their power and climbing ability to smoke the course. Wohlberg has said he hopes to pull off a strong ride. “A top 20 for me on this course, or even a top-15, would be great,” the Saturn rider said at this year's Nationals, “this is definitely one of the toughest courses in years.

In the 260.4k road race, look for the Euro-hardened riders like National Champ Dominique Perras or Michael Barry to be aggressive until the end. Former National Champ Mark Walters will be a strong contender to finish well, and Wohlberg will definitely be a key asset to team Canada in the road race.

Elite Women The 20.8k time trial will see two medal contenders in the form of Lyne Bessette and Genevieve Jeanson: both riders are international favourites and are well-suited to the tough, hilly course. The 124.0k road race will be perfect for the Quebec duo as well as Hamilton's own Sue Palmer-Komar. Look for these three riders to be definite medal, as rainbow jersey contenders. Erinne Willock, Amy Moore and Manon Jutras will complete the super-strong team.

Espoir Men The 30.8k time trial should suit top-ten favourite Dom Rollin, and Chris Isaac should have a solid ride on this tough course. In the 173.6km road race, look for Martin Gilbert, Cam Evans, and Jean Sebastien Maheu ride their hearts out in front of the home crowd.

Junior Men Kevin Lacombe and Raphael Tremblay will lead the Junior Men in the 20.8k time trial and 124.0k road race after a fantastic season, joined by Brandon, Ontario local boys Brandon Crichton, Christian Meier.

Junior Women Quebec's Audrey Lemieux and Emilie Roy lead the junior women's assault in the 15.4k TT and 74.4k road race. Joining them will be Emily Sandwith and Anna Tratnyek. All four riders are expected to have great rides. Canada has done well in recent years in junior women's world championships, so look out!
