2002 Road Worlds Update

September 25, 2002 – Two more weeks to go before the start of the Road World Championships on the Zolder Circuit. The first podium ceremony will take place within 14 days and a few days later, we will focus on the truth about statistics: will Belgium have another world champion amongst the male elite, 6 years after Museeuw, 12 years after Dhaenens and 18 years after Criquelion?

We would like to inform you about our approach to the Road World Championships, the second to take place on the Zolder Circuit this year and the third major cycling event to be organised in Belgium in 2002 – after Antwerp (track) and the Zolder Circuit (cyclo-cross). As well, this is the second Road World Championship to be held on the Zolder Circuit (the first was in 1969).

On 5th September, we have raised a corner of the veil, now we will zoom onto a few details: during this press conference, we will reveal some digits, show you the infrastructure for the press, the public and the guests, give you an overview of the state of the affairs regarding the ticket sales and so much more. It might sound surprising to you, but, even before the start of the event, we will be able coming up with some records.

The press conference will be organised in collaboration with the KBWB, the Royal Belgian Bicycle Federation. JosÈ De Cauwer will polish up and further cut down his selection for the Road World Championships.

Take care! The earlier-announced date for this press conference was 27th September. However, it has been postponed to 30th September.

You are invited to the most exciting press conference on the subject of 'Road World Championships' since 1927.
