October 3, 2008 – This Sunday, October 5, the first annual Nanaimo Hill Climb Championship takes place, rain or shine, on a challenging 5.5km route on Duomont and Weigle Roads. Registration opens at 9am at Pleasant Valley Community Centre on Duomont Road. The men’s and women’s races will be contested on an age standard formula, with 6.6 seconds per year being deducted from all 40+ years and up finishing times. The fastest actual times for each category will be regarded as initial records for the course.
After the medal presentation, there will be an awards ceremony for this season’s OBB Wheelers Midweek time trial series. For those wishing to pre-ride the course, it is already marked clearly with each kilometer indicated.

Course Details:
Start on Dourmont Road, 100m. west of Black Bear Pub. Continue on Dourmont Road to junction with Weigle Road. Turn right on Weigle and continue to end of pavement, 650m past Wasteland Moto-cross track. 5.5km.
