November 25, 2008 (Aigle, Switzerland) – The UCI Licenses Commission, which met in Geneva on 12 and 14 November, announced its decision yesterday to grant UCI ProTour licences to seven teams, on the basis of the application files it received. The following seven teams have been recently granted ProTour licenses.
– Cofidis (FRA)
– Française des Jeux (FRA)
– Katusha (RUS)
– Quick Step (BEL)
– Saxo Bank-IT Factory (DEN)
– Silence-Lotto (BEL)
– Rabobank (NED)
The Licenses Commission has already granted UCI ProTour licences to nine teams.
A decision is still pending on applications submitted by the teams Euskaltel-Euskadi (ESP) and BBox Bouygues Telecom (FRA). These applications will be considered at a later date.
The Licences Commission also granted a four-year UCI ProTour licence (2009-2012) to the Ghent-Wevelgem event in Belgium, making it the eleventh race to hold a UCI ProTour licence.
The Commission will make a decision in due course about licence requests for the Tour of Flanders (BEL), the Amstel Gold Race (NED) and the Tour of Benelux.
