release by the Ride for Karen

July 24, 2013 (Vaughan, ON) – Hundreds of cyclists looking to help those living with cancer and their families, while also conquering a physical challenge will ride on Sunday, September 8th  as they take part in the annual charity bike ride, Ride for Karen.

The Ride for Karen is held each year as a tribute to the life and legacy of Karen Tobias who passed away at 53 years of age after a battle with breast cancer. As a tribute to her commitment to helping others, her sons created this premiere cycling event.

The century ride (160km) starts in Vaughan and rolls through the countryside north of Toronto. There is also a 100km, 25km and kid’s family fun ride on the day.

Now in its 12th year, the event has raised over $1.8 million, with 100% of the proceeds donated to help send children with cancer to camp.  Originally a century (160 km) ride for advanced riders exclusively, the event also includes a 100km ride, as well as a 25km and kids ride, giving cyclists at all levels the opportunity to participate.
