Wohlberg Breaks Thumb

April 7, 2006 – Pedal has learned that tough man Eric Wohlberg (Symmetrics) not only rode the 9-stage Volta a Sao Paolo in Brazil in the searing heat – but also with a broken thumb!

Over two weeks ago Wohlberg broke his thumb early in the race and managed to make it to the finish. He is still training hard albeit with a small splint for his thumb, and is avoiding racing for the time being until the thumb heals.

Wohlberg can train properly and was spotted at Sea Otter as he lives nearby, but is concerned about exerting too much effort on his thumb.

Team Symmetrics is back In North America after having planned on doing two stage races in Brazil. When the riders were at the San Fran airport they were notified that the second race had lost its title sponsor and was postponed until the latter part of the season, so the team quickly re-organized their flights and came home early.
