October 1, 2005 – Gary Harder was relieved to see the final moto pass the finish line knowing he would be able to rest his voice… at least until the indoor competitions begin. The Abbotsford BMX Club in B.C. hosted a fine weekend of racing September 23-25, that included Western National #5 and the National Finals. A larger than expected turnout was on hand, partly due to a huge presence from Alberta which made for some great racing and inter-provincial action.
Alberta’s Aaron Lepp waited four years to finally capture his first Elite Men’s Title while Samantha Cools, also from Alberta, earned the Elite Women’s title. Christine Miller (Alberta) and Scott Erwood (B.C.) won their respective Junior titles and all winners received Xbox consoles just in time for winter
The National BMX Series is gaining momentum and look for a few new programs to kick off the 2006 season. Stay tuned to pedalmag.com for up and coming details on the new BMX schedule and format – you will be pleasantly surprised.
Thanks to all the riders and volunteers for a great season and see you all at indoor in Morley, Alberta and Abbotsford, BC.
