Wanted – Athlete Endorsements for Victoria Velodrome

June 6, 2008 (Victoria, BC) – The Juan de Fuca Velodrome in Victoria, B.C. is imminently threatened with demolition by short-sighted local politicos. The Greater Victoria Velodrome Association has formed the Commonwealth Games Velodrome Legacy Committee to preserve and protect this legacy track which was gifted to the Western communities region of Victoria by the B.C. taxpayers for the use of recreational and elite cyclists from across the country following the 1994 Victoria Commonwealth Games.

Dr. Wayne Walker, sponsor of the local track cycling community for 14 years, has been asked to chair this committee and he is asking for athlete endorsements of the Juan de Fuca velodrome that can be used in presentations to local councils – the West Shore is made of five town councils that all have a say in this issue.

One of the thrusts of our presentation is that the velodrome is a valued asset for the national cycling center in Victoria, as well as visiting cyclists from across the country.

Time is of the essence, so if you or one of your cyclists have had a positive training or racing experience on the Juan de Fuca velodrome please email a short statement of support to drwwalker@shaw.ca.

Your support is greatly appreciated,

Dr. Wayne Walker
