Canada’s Woods Stellar 7th on Stage 17 at Vuelta a Espana & Now 7th Overall + PHOTOS

September 06, 2017 (Los Machucos, Italy) – Canada’s Michael Woods (Cannondale-Drapac) delivered another courageous ride finishing 7th on the dramatic 180.5km Stage 17, from Villadiego to the brutal hills of Los Machucos, to move into 7th overall as Stefan Denifl (Aut) Aqua Blue Sport took home a historic victory for his team in their grand tour debut.

Alberto Contador Velasco (Esp) Trek-Segafredo attacked on the final climb for a stellar day finishing 2nd on the stage while Vincenzo Nibali (Ita) Bahrain-Merida clawed back some time on Christopher Froome (Gbr) Team Sky who struggled on the climbs placing 14th on the stage but still holds a commanding 1:16 lead over Nibali with Wilco Kelderman (Ned) Team Sunweb still third overall.
