August 31, 2005 – Amidst much controversy, including a formal complaint by the Spanish Cycling Federation, the Dutch Cycling Federation has supported the candidacy of current UCI president, Hein Verbruggen, to continue as UCI President. Verbruggen’s candidacy comes at the last second, after declarations of lack of transparency from the Spanish Federation. The election will take place later this month, on September 23.
