Veilleux Named to Europcar’s Tour de France Reserve List

June 26, 2012 – Canada’s David Veilleux could be racing at this year’s Tour de France as his WorldTour Team, Europcar, has named their 2012 TdF squad and Veilleux along with Alexandre Pichot been named to the team’s reserve list. Thomas Voeckler and Pierre Rolland will lead Europcar’s nine-man squad at the 99th edition of the TdF which begins this Saturday in the Belgian city of Liege. Voeckler is recovering from an injury and was a doubtful starter.

Veilleux, who is the second reserve, is a four-time U23 Canadian time trial champion (2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009), a two-time U23 national road champ (2006, 2008) and a former Canadian crit champion (2010). On European soil in 2011, Veilleux won the La Roue Tourangelle, finished 25th at the Paris-Roubaix, and finished 19th at the UCI Road Worlds.
