October 07, 2016 – Hi Everyone, I can’t explain the feeling we all got to enjoy together on Wednesday when we heard what we had achieved. Coming down off the track I saw the official time on the screen and immediately was overtaken with emotion. We had broken the very exclusive 4-minute mark with 3:59.931 our fastest time ever, a new Canadian record!!!! I found Aidan [Caves], Jay [Lamoureux] and Adam [Jamieson] and we laughed, cried, embraced and laughed some more. We have been extremely fortunate the past few years to be a part of a world-class track program full of many talented athletes. Fortunate to train at home in a world-class training facility and fortunate to have amazing amounts of love and support from all of you back home.

I can’t express enough what it means to me to wear the maple leaf on my back at home and in international competition. I’m beyond proud. What we have done as a nation in under three years has opened the eyes of many in the sport. I really want you to feel included in this. I need you to know it isn’t possible without you. None of us get to go this fast without all of you. Thank you for your continued support. We aren’t done yet….the best is yet to come.
