UCI World Cup MTB Finals — Men’s 4X

September 11, 2005 — World Champion and overall World Cup winner Brian Lopes (USA, G.T.) got shut out of the top spot in the men’s race today in Fort William, Scotland, when he got tangled up with Guido Tschugg (GER, SRAM-Rock Shox), who placed fourth.

Lopes managed to recover enough to get his momentum back and take the silver medal.

Top honours went to Norway’s Leiv Ove Nordmark (NOR), who benefited from the tussle.

Great Britain’s Gee Atherton (GBR, Animal Giant) picked up third.

The short course was intense and technical and included a series of rollers, step ups, berms, drops and doubles. As usual, the event was a hit with the Scottish fans.
