UCI World Cup MTB Finals — Elite Men’s XC

September 10, 2005 — Ralph Naef (SUI, Multivan-Merida) of Switzerland pulled off his first ever World Cup victory in the men’s race today at the World Cup Finals in Fort William, Scotland.

Naef was an underdog, chasing most of the race with a group until he made his move on the last lap for the win.

Christoph Sauser (SUI, Siemens Mobile-Cannondale), who had the World Cup Series lead sewn up even before the start, finished second, while Fredrik Kessiakoff (SWE, Siemens Mobile-Cannondale), after leading for most of the five-lap race, ended up third.
