UCI World Cup DH #1 Pietermaritzburg Junior, Women, Men’s FULL Results, Photos – Canada’s Gatto 12th

April 12, 2014 (Pietermaritzburg, South Africa) – Manon Carpenter (Gbr) Madison Saracen Factory Team took the first World Cup win of the season in the women’s DH as Canada’s Micayla Gatto, riding for her new Pivot Factory DH Team, claimed 12th. Last year’s World Cup winner and world champ, Rachel Atherton (Gbr) GT Factory Racing, settled for second.

Casey Brown (Can) Bergamont Hayes World Team DNF’d. Meanwhile top Junior Men’s qualifier Luca Shaw (USA) SRAM/TLD Racing topped the field with no Canadians competing.

In the Elite Men’s DH final Aaron Gwin (USA) Specialized Racing DH is back to his winning ways capturing the opening UCI World Cup DH #1 victory over Michael Hannah (Aus) Hutchinson UR in second with reigning world champ, Greg Minnaar (Rsa) Santa Cruz Syndicate, grabbing 3rd.
