Jan. 6, 2006 — The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Track Cycling World Cup Classics return to the United States Jan. 20 to 22 at the at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
World Cup races are the most prestigious of the UCI calendar, providing riders and countries the opportunity to qualify for positions in the upcoming World Championships April 13-16 in Bordeaux, France. The Los Angeles event is the third in the series of four World Cup Classics in the 2005-2006 season.
“The World Cup in Los Angeles is back for a second year and a record number of Americans will be featured at a world cup track event,” said Gerard Bisceglia, chief executive officer of USA Cycling. “It will be exciting so see so many of our own athletes go head to head against the world’s best track cycling athletes on our home soil.”
More than 200 athletes from 36 countries, including the United States, will participate in the three-day event in California. The ADT Event Center at The Home Depot Center has hosted two UCI Track World Championships in addition to one previous World Cup.

The three-day event includes five sessions:
Friday, January 20
– Session 1: 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
– Session 2: 6:00 p.m. to 9:25 p.m.
Saturday, January 21
– Session 1: 10:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
– Session 2: 6:00 p.m. to 8:55 p.m.
Sunday, January 22
– Session 1: 11:00 a.m. to 2:05 p.m.
