September 24, 2014 (Ponferrada, Spain) – Bradley Wiggins (Great Britain) secured the Elite Men’s 57.1km ITT rainbow jersey, the only major title he hasn’t won, with a solid 26.2-second margin over Tony Martin (Germany), the 3x defending champ. Reigning Dutch ITT national champion, Tom Dumoulin (Netherlands), took home the bronze while double Canadian champ, Svein Tuft, placed 28th for his last race this season.

Wiggins, the former Tour de France winner and reigning Olympic champ, was up at the final two checkpoints in an all-or-nothing attempt to beat Martin and claim the World ITT title. He announced that this was his final championship race and he will not defend the jersey in Richmond, Virginia in 2015.
