March 27, 2006 – Dr. Mario Zorzoli, who manages the medical department for the UCI, was reinstated today according to an AFP report. Zorzoli’s name became known when it was revealed (through his admission) that he had “unwittingly given the results of doping controls to a journalist from the French sports daily L’Equipe.” L’Equipe then wrote a shocking article accusing Lance Armstrong of various doping offenses and alleging that he had tested positive for using the banned blood booster EPO. Armstrong has vehemently denied any drug use.
