UCI MTB World Cup Nove Mesto Junior/U23 Women/Men’s Report and PHOTOS

May 25, 2013 (Nove Mesto, Czech Republic) – Mountain bikers Cayley Brooks and Léandre Bouchard were the top Canadians today as the 2013 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup tour resumed, both finishing in 27th of the U23 races in the Czech Republic.

Brooks posted a time of 1:27:09 in the second women’s U23 race of the 2013 World Cup tour, while Bouchard realized a time of 1:22:01 in the men’s competition.

In the women’s U23 race, Andréanne Lanthier-Nadeau finished 31st. Haley Smith, who had a good result last weekend as the World Cup season opened in Albastadt, Germany, did not finish today’s contest.

Jeremy Martin finished in 28th position in the men’s U23 race, right behind Bouchard. Ontario’s Mitch Bailey posted the 38th fastest time.

In the overall World Cup rankings, Smith remains the top Canadian thanks to her performance last weekend, sitting in 20th place overall. Brooks sits in 25th place, while Lanthier-Nadeau is in 30th overall.

In the junior men race, Canada’s lone rider, Marc-André Fortier, raced to 35th place.

The second stop of the 2013 tour continues tomorrow with the presentation of both the Elite men’s and women’s races.
