UCI MTB World Championships Elite Men/Women’s DH Timed Session Results – Smith Tops Men’s Field

August 31, 2013 (Pietermaritzburg, South Africa) – Canadian downhiller and two-time World Championships medallist Steve Smith posted the fastest time of the downhill timed session on Saturday at the 2013 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.

Smith is enjoying a dream season, finishing in the top 4 of each race he’s entered, and posting three top-3 results, including a historic victory on Canadian soil at Mont-Ste-Anne earlier this month. Smith has previously won silver and bronze downhill medals at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships.

Casey Brown was the best Canadian in the women’s timed session, with the seventh fastest time of the group, while Micayla Gatto was just behind her earning the eighth fastest time. Rachel Atherton (Great Britain), having a stellar season as well with multiple victories, topped the women’s field.
