UCI MTB Rankings

August 23, 2007 — The UCI has recently updated the MTB points rankings. In the individual XC rankings, Geoff Kabush (Can) Maxxis is Canada’s top man, in seventh place, while top woman Canadian is Marie-Helene Premont (Can) Rocky Mountain-Haywood, in sixth. Julien Absalon (Fra) Orbea and Irina Kalentyeva (Rus) Topeak-Ergon top the men’s and women’s fields, respectively.

In the XC nation rankings, the Canadian men are in sixth place, while the women sit in fourth position. The nation ranking is important for Olympic qualification, because only the top seven countries will be allowed the maximum quota of riders — two for the women and three for the men.

Thomas Dietsch (Fra) and Pia Sundstedt (Fin) are leading the XCM standings. There are no Canadian men in the running. Marg Fedyna (Can) is in 93rd position and Alison Sydor (Can) is in 143rd place.

The DH standings are topped by Samuel Hill (Aus) and Sabrina Jonnier (Fra). Top Canadians are Luke Kitzanuk (Can) in 53rd for the men and Claire Buchar (Can) in 16th for the women.

The 4X rankings are led by Americans Brian Lopes (USA) and Jill Kintner (USA). There are no Canadians in the competition.
