UCI MTB 4X World Cup #7

August 20, 2005 – Michal Prokop (CZE) dominated the men’s World Cup four-cross event in Pila, Italy today, winning all his heats. In the women’s event, Jill Kintner (USA, Yeti) won the semi-final and final.

Brian Lopes (USA, G.T.) tried his best to beat out Prokop, but he couldn’t keep up with the Czek rocket. Cedric Gracia (FRA, Siemens Mobile-Cannondale) rolled into third. Despite his second place, Lopes still holds the series lead.

Jana Horakova (CZE) tried to do the same as her fellow countryman, Prokop, but couldn’t quite pull it off. She wound up second, followed by World Cup leader, Anneke Beerten (NED, Specialized).

The course was ravaged by rain during this evening’s race, causing deep mud and slippery conditions on the track’s seven bermed corners and a variety tabletops, doubles and other jumps. Fog and cold temperatures couldn’t deter spectators or slow down the racers.
