Lots of Canadians will be on the start line including elite riders Catherine Pendrel (Luna), Emily Batty (Trek), Sandra Walter (Liv), Raphael Gagne (Cannondale), Geoff Kabush (Scott-3Rox), and U23’s Catharine Fleury (Cyclone d’Alma), Frederique Trudel (Specialized), Peter Disera (Norco), Alexandre Vialle (Team Canada), Marc Andre Fortier (Team Canada) and more. Fleury was on the podium in 2nd at round #1 in Cairns, Australia.
The fields will be stacked with more top riders than in Cairns including elite women Jolanda Neff (Sui) Stockli, and reigning MTB world champ Pauline Ferrand Prevot (Fra) Rabo Liv. The perennial battle between Nino Schurter (Sui) Scott-Odlo and 2015 winner here, Julien Absalon (Fra) BMC, will now include Jaroslav Kulhavy (Cze) Specialized who was injured and did not race at Cairns. The German venue first organized an XCO World Cup back in 2013 and this is the fourth time the popular site has welcomed the world’s top riders.
