November 27, 2009 (Aigle, Switzerland) – Following the presentation of the Coaching Development Programme at the UCI Road World Championships in Mendrisio last September, the first course dates have been confirmed for the 2010 programme. The aim of the programme, which will start in January 2010, is to raise the standard of coaching throughout the world and create a global network of coaches who are capable of guiding their riders through to the highest level.
The programme, developed by the World Cycling Centre (WCC) in partnership with British Cycling, will be held over eight weeks with a maximum of 12 coaches per course. This unique programme will enable participants to benefit from theory sessions that will be closely linked to practical experience out in the field with athletes.
The 2010 Coach Development Programme will comprise four – maybe five – courses, which will be given in English:
– Course 1: January – February
– Course 2: March – April
– Course 3: May – June
– Course 4: September – October
– Course 5: November – December (to be confirmed)
More information about this programme can be found in the brochure entitled Coaching Development Programme. Coaches interested in participating in the programme are asked to contact the UCI at the address firstname.lastname@example.org
