April 08, 2017 (Oudenaarde, BEL) – Sean MacKinnon (An Post Chain Reaction) was the top Canuck at the 168.1km U23 Ronde van Vlaanderen, round #2 of the UCI Nation’s Cup U23, held in Oudenaarde, Belgium today as Edward Dunbar (Ire)  Axeon Hagens Berman escaped for a solid victory.

Team RaceClean Canada’s Evan Burtnik was in an early break with Latvia’s Klavs Rubenis but they were caught as Norway led the chase. Another attack saw four riders gap the field but they too were reeled in as Dunbar and France’s Alexys Brunel struck out on their own with 22km to go and suddenly had a 50-second lead. Dunbar dropped Brunel, who was caught by an 11-strong chase group, to take the victory with 49 seconds to spare.
