Trillium Grant Boosts HCC’s Trail Building at Christie Lake

release by the Hamilton Cycling Club

August 07, 2012 – Hamilton Cycling Club is thrilled that we are a successful applicant for an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant that will support trail-building at Christie Lake Conservation Area. The $14,900 grant will purchase trail construction equipment so volunteers can build a 10-km mountain bike trail and skills park in Christie Lake Conservation Area in Dundas. Sustainable trails will minimize the ecological impact and provide recreational opportunities for cyclists, hikers, trail runners and other user groups.

“This is great news for our club and for cyclists, hikers and other users in the Hamilton area and beyond,” said Marc Risdale, who has been spearheading the volunteer trail-building efforts. “We want to do the best job possible on these trails, and this grant allows us access to equipment that will make this possible.”

Watch for more details about the official opening of the trail system, expected in fall 2012.
